Dale Hamilton Jr.                    Dale – High School Graduation

 Dale Hamilton Jr. was born in Kewanee, IL on the 29th of Oct., 1927 at 7 ½ lbs . He attended the 1st grade in Franklin School in Kewanee. His family then moved to Wethersfield Township in Kewanee where he attended & graduated from the Wethersfield School System in 1946. He was president of his high school class 4 consecutive years. Upon graduation from high school he immediately joined the United States Marine Corps and completed his boot camp at Paris Island, South Carolina. After his hitch in the Marine Corps he attended the Uni. of North Alabama on a football scholarship. While attending the University, he enrolled in the Military Police ROTC Cadet program and received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army.  When the Korean War began, he applied for active duty and requested Korean overseas duty. Prior to shipping overseas to Korea he married Jean Andris on 8/23/1952, the daughter of Glen & Rosie Andris. While in Korea he served with the 2nd US Infantry as a platoon leader and was awarded the Bronze Star. They moved to Germany and later to Paris, France in June20, 1962.They moved back to the states 7/10/1964. Dale divorced Jean in 1965 while stationed at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL. Dale is a retired Lt. Col. in the Army.

Dale met and married Dorothy Nell Baird Chorba on Dec. 31, 1965. Dorothy was born Oct. 24, 1926 and was a professional illustrator for the US Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL. Dorothy is a graduate of the Uni. Of Alabama and her ancestry is part Scoth & Cherakee Indian. Dorothy died Feb. 6, 2005 of lung cancer (Cellular Carcinoma) and was cremated. She has 2 son’s from her previous marriage to Joseph John Chorba Jr., Jody Chorba born Dec. 29, 1950 and Andrew Franklin (Rusty) Chorba born Aug. 1, 1955. Both son’s are also graduates of the Uni. Of Alabama. Jody and Rusty are in construction and have owned their own businesses for over 20 years in Gunterville, AL.

Dale volunteered for Vietnam War and served 13 months before returning to the US in 1967. He eventually retired from the United States Army in 1971 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Dale and Dorothy moved to Gulf Shores Alabama and resided their for 10 years. When hurricane Frederick struck Gulf Shores on the 12th of Sept., 1979. They then moved to Smith Lake, AL and lived their for 10 years. Dorothy’s sons persisted that Dale & Dorothy to move to Guntersville, AL where they presently reside.

Pam is a Reg. Nurse and has 1 child. Pam was a military brat and lived all over the world. She married David Boyer on 5/26/1973 and had 1 child, Sarah.
