The Bainter family was of German origin. Godfrey Bainter married Margaret ?. He was born in 1745 near Oresden, Germany. They were married in 1769 in Maryland and moved to Bedford Co., PA then  moved to Muskingum, Co., OH were they lived til death. He died at age 60 on 5/18/1805. They were buried in Bainter Cemetery in Madison Township. Margeret was born in 1752 & died 9/10/1815 in OH.

Peter married Mary (Emaler) and were natives of PA. He was the youngest of 12 children, born in 1797 and was a farmer. Peter was one of the pioneer settlers of Ohio. They settled in Monroe Twp., Muskigum Co., OH. They got married in 3/30/1822 in OH. They then move to LaHarpe, IL in 1852. Mary was born 10/11/1805 in PA. And died in IL in 1/29/1889. They had 7 children.

 Lucina Bainter born 2/4/1827 in OH, married Samual Gaumer in 1849 in Ohio and moved to LaHarpe, IL. They had 10 children.
