Forward

Finally, after research since 1995, the ‘Hamilton Family Tree Book’ has arrived and on CD’s for use by everyone. You can print any part of this document or pictures in the file folders. Most pictures are 8*10 quality! Aside from this fact, the greatest satisfaction for me has come from getting to know so many of the Hamilton’s past & present. Hopefully, this family history will provide the same feeling for you. In addition, may you experience a sense of pride in the Hamilton’s and their kin from 600 AD & the 3rd crusade to present.

With all of the names and dates in the book, errors can be expected and do occur even though much proof reading was done. Plus, there is some incomplete information due to incomplete information received. Sorry....just pencil-in corrections and additions, send information to Rick Hamilton, 4009 172nd St. N., East Moline, IL 61244, or e-mail me and send pictures to rick.hammy@gmail.com . Last, time constrains and size limits prevented the inclusion of every bit of information and every photograph received although these pictures are on the CD. Also the sport info on the Hamilton’s in Blandinsville is on the IHSA state website: http://www.illinoishsglorydays.com.

It is hoped that the book has captured the personalities and lives of Dale & Alice Hamilton and their 12 children. If this is the case, then much of the credit goes to the Hamilton descendants who contributed stories and information. Every attempt was made to acknowledge these individuals throughout the book.

Even though, I am listed as the editor of this book, much of the research and work on the Gaumer side of the family was completed by Janis Johnson of Roseville, IL.                          .

This forward would not be complete without a special thank you to four people. First, my father, Milton D. Hamilton, who through the years endured my many Hamilton questions of who, what, where, when, etc. and many long trips to do research. Next, my uncle Lt. Col. Dale Hamilton who saved many documents & pictures from past reunions. My uncle Thomas (Jack) Hamilton who helped research & tie up loose ends. Lastly, there’s my aunt Margaret Hamilton who had so many family pictures and Grandma Alice Hamilton’s black books for me to use plus knowledge of past events.

Our ancestors, our forefathers, members of our family tree
Our evolution, our education, our history
The struggles and victories, invention and creation
The building of cities, faith, and civilization
Time seems to stand still, yet it moves so fast
The keys to our future are forged by our past
